14 Months Old

Today Olivia turns 14 months old.  Her favorites right now are: playing with her baby doll, playing peek a boo, looking at books, and playing with balls.  Her attention has increased in the last month and she can sit for a longer period of time and persist with playing with a toy.  Olivia is adding new words!  Her latest is "woof", which is the general term for dog (she even says it when she hears a dog bark).  She still refers to Brisco as da (dog).  She loves to yell for "daddy" and knows when he is going for work or returning from work (thank you loud garage door).  She also says "cat" (all cats).  She uses quite a few signs: please, more, eat/drink, elephant, fish, and no.  Her no is now a head shake, sometimes a nose scrunch.  She will occasionally say mama.  She is beginning to point to some objects in books when you ask her "where's the_____?".  She likes to do some of the actions to "Oh, elephant Song" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider".  Olivia continues to be a social bug, although has been a little shy recently.  She likes to blow kisses and wave hi and bye.  In many social settings she enjoys being the center of attention (family dinner for example!).  Olivia enjoys putting on a hat and taking off her socks and shoes.  She is trying to figure out a spoon, but usually just prefers using her fingers.  She drinks from an open cup, straw cup, and sippy cup.  She likes to help feed Brisco his scoops of food and treats if she gets the chance.  Olivia is getting braver and will sometimes try to take a step down stairs(faceplant!)--we still prefer her to turn around so we continue to encourage that.  She can side-step and step over things without holding on.  She likes to throw a ball and tries to kick one.  She is on the move from when she gets up (still happy to greet the day!), until she slows down for her naps or bed.  Otherwise she is a busy, easy-going happy girl!

  1. All so very true, based on our recent ski trip experiences with her :)
